Google’s RSS Tools Update
January 23, 2007 by Trent Adams
Google adds more nifty RSS reader functionality to their custom homepage. Now, in addition to the headlines from feeds, it can display the first few words when clicking the “+” icon.
That’s good for consumers (eg. me) … but what do the content producers think (eg. also me)? On the one hand it speeds up my reading. On the other hand, however, it’s possible to see that I may be less likely (if I get enough from the summary and don’t follow through to the full post) to bump into something on the producer’s site that was co-displayed with the headline post that caught my eye.
Perhaps I should cross-post this under “Kobayashi Maru”… or at least “Doubled-Edged Sword”.
